Development Associate

Salary Range: $55,000–$67,000 based on education and experience

Organization’s Mission: TaskForce Prevention and Community Services is a multi-service, grassroots organization committed to improving the sexual health and overall well-being of LGBTQ+ youth of Color in Chicago by providing a safe space for fellowship, HIV/STI screening and education, and on-site referrals to medical, housing, and other social services.

 

Position Summary: The Development Associate will assist with executing TaskForce’s Development and fundraising strategies through administrative support on the Development team.

 

Schedule: This role is a full-time, 40 hours per week position with a Monday–Friday schedule. Occasional evening and weeknight hours are required. This role is primarily remote but will require occasional in-person attendance for team meetings and events, on average once per month.

 


 

Key Responsibilities: The Development Associate’s role consists of the following responsibilities:

 

  • Donor Acknowledgment & Database Management – 35%
    • Manage donor database. Maintain accurate records in Development CRM, e.g. updating donor records, entering grant information, running reports, etc.
    • Manage donor acknowledgment process. Prepare and ensure timely acknowledgment of donations, including acknowledgment letters, calls and emails to first-time donors, and annual tax letters.
    • Manage the TaskForce Community Circle giving program, including tracking relevant incentives for TCC members.
    • Support with preparation for donor meetings, e.g. creating donor profiles ahead of in-person meetings.

 

  • Event Support – 25%
    • Manage booking and coordination of event venues and vendors.
    • Assist AD of Development with execution of event planning and project management, ensuring that event deliverables are completed on time.
    • Own note-taking in event planning meetings to record progress and guide next steps.
    • Develop meeting agendas to be distributed to planning team ahead of meetings.
    • Assist with & attend occasional in-person events in a support role, including signature fundraising events, beneficiary events, and community outreach events.

 

  • Grant Pipeline Support – 25%
    • Support grants consultants with preparation for private foundation grant submissions, including securing necessary attachments; working with program staff to collect relevant data for grant reports; and updating proposal submission information in Development database and project trackers.
    • Support program staff in delivering relevant proposal and report data & narrative pieces.
    • Support grants consultants with maintaining the grants calendar, ensuring that deadlines are met and relevant opportunities are added in a timely manner.

 

  • Other Responsibilities – 15%
    • Other duties as assigned.

 


 

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Cultural humility and commitment to racial, gender, and health equity, particularly in serving LGBTQIA+ Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) youth communities, is required.
  • 2–4 years’ experience in nonprofit Development fundraising, e.g. private foundation grant management or other Development functions.
  • Experience with donor database software (e.g. Bloomerang) or other CRM software.
  • Impeccable writing and editing skills.
  • Experience with prospect research.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office, Google Docs, or similar applications.
  • Able to lift up to 20 lbs.
