Leadership Talk

Join us for an inspiring leadership talk designed to empower the youth who have engaged with both the YEER and SAFE Programs at TaskForce Prevention and Community Services. During this discussion the youth will explore workforce readiness, career development, and what it took for Cortez to build a successful career and fulfilling future for himself and many people he mentors and coaches through his trainings and classroom teaching.

We are excited to welcome Cortez Watson, Jr. (M.Ed., LSMA, MA), Manager of Learning Design at Konesense Development, as our featured guest speaker. With years of experience designing learning experiences that strengthen leadership, workforce capacity, and organizational growth, Cortez is passionate about helping individuals discover their potential and develop the skills needed to succeed.

During this interactive session, youth will learn about the value of employment, developing career goals, building workplace skills, and preparing for future opportunities. Cortez will also share insights from his work in youth development, leadership, and education, encouraging participants to think beyond a job and begin building a meaningful career.

As a doctoral student in Leadership, Equity, & Inquiry at Northeastern Illinois University and an adjunct professor in Urban Community Studies and Educational Foundations, Cortez brings a wealth of knowledge and real-world experience. His academic and professional work focuses on youth development, learning, leadership, and creating opportunities that strengthen individuals and communities.

This event is an opportunity for young people to ask questions, gain valuable career advice, and be inspired by a community leader who is committed to helping the next generation succeed.
